1Password is seeking a Senior Accountant, Tax to join its dedicated tax team. This position will contribute to tax provision, compliance, and reporting functions. The role is crucial for ensuring adherence to tax regulations, supporting financial reporting, and identifying opportunities to enhance the company's tax standing.

What you'll do
Prepare quarterly tax provisions, including reconciliations, uncertain tax positions, and financial statement disclosures in accordance with US GAAP.
Review data from the accounting department that feeds into tax provision calculations.
Collaborate with external tax consultants on year-end provision calculations, including book-to-tax differences.
Manage and reconcile tax-related accounts during the monthly accounting close.
Develop tax accounting memos to document analysis and conclusions for complex transactions.
Provide support to the accounting team during year-end audits.
Assist with tax estimates for the budget process and quarterly forecasts.
Research and recommend tax positions, accounting issues, and risk management strategies.
Prepare and review federal, state, and provincial income tax returns, with a view to bringing some compliance in-house.
Calculate and prepare apportionment data and supporting documentation.
Prepare estimated tax payment calculations.
Support the resolution of tax authority notices and inquiries.
Coordinate and manage tax audits.
Monitor tax legislation changes and assess their impact.
Manage state and local tax compliance, including sales and use taxes.
Ensure transfer pricing policies and documentation are current and compliant.
Prepare quarterly PFIC calculations.
Contribute to special projects such as tax planning and analysis of non-standard transactions.
Lead special tax projects and interact with business partners on tax-related matters.
Assist with tax due diligence for mergers and acquisitions.
Requirements
A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in corporate tax provision and compliance (federal & state/provincial) from a public accounting firm or corporate tax department.
CPA designation is strongly preferred.
Proficiency in US and Canadian income tax laws and regulations (federal, provincial, state, and local).
Strong technical understanding of US GAAP tax accounting rules (ASC 740).
Experience with Estimated Annual Effective Tax Rate (AETR) provision reporting.
Familiarity with Canadian tax matters is preferred.
Technical proficiency with reporting and compliance tools, including NetSuite and income tax compliance software like OneSource.
Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, sumifs, v-lookups, and index formulas.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments.
Effective communication skills to explain complex tax issues to various stakeholders.
Strong project management abilities, with capacity to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
Experience with Canadian SR&ED and US R&D tax credit claims is a plus.
A proactive approach to exploring and adopting new technologies, including AI tools for work efficiency.
